7 Signs That Your Cat Is Grieving

Cats Have Feelings too ..

1. Change in appetite

most of the time, a grieving cat will experience a loss of appetite. This can be kinda dangerous for a cat, because prolonged lack of food can lead to a potentially fatal condition called hepatic lipidosis. And if your cat refuses to eat for more than a day, contact your vet.

  1. My mother used to have 2 cats before she passed away. One of them, the one my mother got when she was still a kitten, got really depressed after my mother's passing. She only really liked my mother and never left her side specially on my mother's final days. Like she knew something bad was going on. So after it, she showing must of this signs. We took her to the vet but unfortuantly we werent able to help her getting over her loss and she passed away one week after my mother. It was a horrible time for the whole family but at least now they aren't suffering anymore and are both up there toguether watching over the family all the time in their happy place.

I wish I had known this. I adopted a cat and it wouldn't eat. I kept trying to feed him but he didn't eat enough and I didn't know this would happen…and, it did.

M.r. Correa No. By the time I took him to the veterinarian, his body had shut down. He was still walking around, but looked so sad. I had no idea. The veterinarian couldn't save him and now, I'm afraid to rescue another cat. It broke my heart.

  5. Arlene Wills Allen You are a special person with a beautiful heart. Don´t loose the lesson, that was his gift to you. Now you are more knowledgeable, for you to love another beautiful creature that needs you as much as you need him <3

Arlene Wills Allen If you are going to adopt again, ask about that cat's bond with other cats in the shelter. We have a couple of cats in a shelter where I volunteer, Marmie and Charlie, who absolutely cannot be separated. We strongly push adopting Marmie and Charlie together because we know this would happen if we did not. Take your fear and turn it into knowledge for a better day.

You are a fucking Cat KILLER. I was your cat Ittle's foster!!!! My daughter and I rescued her from a high kill shelter where she was for 3 months and she lived with us for another few months before you adopted her. She never ever had a problem eating at the shelter or my home. She was beautiful and my heart aches every day knowing I left her with you!!!! You had my number AND the rescues number and never called us. You dumped her at the vet and left a message on my answering machine that you didn't want her anymore. I hope you rot in hell lady!

I pray to God you don't ever adopt another cat or any other animal for that matter. Ittle lost 40% of her body weight in just a few weeks. You waited until she was starved before you did anything. You are nothing but an attention seeker. Don't have pity on this lady because I know the whole truth.

Christi Lisk I don't know but if there is I'll put her on there. I have photos of Ittle, email exchanges and even her voice mail saying she didn't want the cat anymore. On top of everything else she told the rescue she couldn't afford the adoption fee (being a senior citizen and all) so they asked her for a small donation of $10 which she never paid. I even gave her Ittle's bed, a carrier, a collar and some food. If she didn't want her it was right in her contract to contact the rescue and she never did. She just dumped her at the vet and left me a phone message. AND this woman who couldn't "afford" an adoption fee or Ittle's vet bill which went into the thousands because she was on IV's as we tried to save her, then went on a Cruise around the world!

Christi Lisk I'm totally sickened that she would even write this here to gain sympathy, but I shouldn't be surprised because she is a narcissist.

Christi Lisk She's even calling Ittle a "he" and "him." She was a girl!!! I wonder how many other threads she is on to seek attention?

  12. Tonya Sheridan That, I saw on her page. She listed all these places in the Mediterranean where she visited. I am so sorry for your loss of Ittle. She sounds like she was well-loved with you, and I can't imagine the pain you're going through while reading this post. I may be half a continent away, but is there anything I can do for you?

Christi Lisk Thank you. I'm okay, you can just imagine my shock seeing her crying for sympathy and attention after what she did…as if she is the victim!

  14. Tasha Waddell It's most likely the stress that kills animals like that. It can cause other problems and then they pass from that.

  15. it's the way these kind of websites are made. they want you to visit more pages so you'll see more ads so they make more cash off you. At least they try to entertain you, those youtube ads are killing me sometimes

Karina Enser her name was Ittle. She was gray and white and loved to jump on my daughter's bed and snuggle with her. Ittle was the most easygoing girl, when she went to adoption events we didn't even have to have the cover on top of the pop up tent. She enjoyed watching everyone and loved all of the attention she received. We fostered her for several months before Arlene adopted her. We thought everything was fine and Arlene had even written a letter saying how much she loved Ittle and how they had a routine and how Ittle followed her to have breakfast every morning. She had the rescues number and my number and we never heard anything from her about Ittle not eating. To our utter shock Arlene dumped her at the rescue's vet several weeks after she adopted her and we found out that Ittle had lost 40% of her body weight. Arlene just told them "she never would eat" but never sought medical attention, never called the rescue or me. Ittle was a larger cat, but very healthy. Arlene said she didn't think anything of it because "she needed to lose weight." She let her starve to death until her body started shutting down. By the time she was left at the vets office it was too late. She was in liver failure. I still have the voice message from Arlene AFTER she dumped her at the vets saying she didn't want her anymore. My daughter and I were hoping to pick her from the vet but despite their best efforts they couldn't save her.

We loved Ittle very much and she will always have a very special place in our hearts. I want people to know the truth. Ittle deserves to rest in peace and that odious woman responsible for her death should not be crying crocodile tears and making up lies for attention.

I have 5 cats. I lost my oldest 2 years ago. One of my cats I started to call my furry tumor. She wouldn't leave my side. If I sat she had to be on me. It's been 2 years now and she is still super clingy even now. It changed her whole life. She is the youngest of my cats. The other 3 didn't do much. I know they called for him a few times and such, but nothing major like Holly. She was close with Figaro, the cat who died. The whole group loves each other. Just seemed like Holly was the most impacted. It was very sad.

  19. Tonya Sheridan ……..people like Arlene should be charged with murder, she is responsible for the death of Ittle. Letting her starve to death……..heartbreaking! Poor baby. I am so sorry for your loss Tonya………Rest in Peace lttle………safe now at Rainbow Bridge……..runfree little one…….I have zero tolerance with people that abuse/neglect or murder animals. Hope they all go to Hell.

  20. My husband passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly last July. He never came back home. W had two cats and the Russian Blue was his cat totally. When Mike never came home, he searched and searched and then laid one the side where my husband slept. He would get up inky to drink water, eat a little bit and use the litter box. He slept very little. Finally one day, I set down and really talked to him about the situation. I petted him and held eye contavpct with him for several minutes. I asked if he understood. He blinked twice two times and then fell asleep. I wish this was the end but it was not. During a move, he slipped out of the gphouse and disappeared. My neighbor was involved in a community watch and was able to keep track of his whereabouts. He came back to the empty house looking for me three weeks after I had moved. She was able to catch him and my son drove to get him. Russian Blues are very active cats and I was grieving horribly do I ended up giving him to my daughter-in -law's father. He has bonded so well with her father, her mother and the little dogs they have. He is one happy cat.
