When Peanut was found, his brother was twice his size. For this reason, no one thought a kitten the size of a mouse would survive more than a few weeks. But, sometimes miracles happen. The kitten was born with a birth defect that prevented him from feeding. He had a cleft palette in his mouth, so he couldn’t get milk from mammary glands or bottles.

Peanut was only seventy-nine grams at the age of nine days, but he preserved his strength well. The only solution was feeding the kitten using a tube. The condition had to be treated, but the kitten was not prepared yet. Kina Tucker said that feeding a kitten the size of a mouse through a tube was challenging.
